Aims
Achieve 95% understanding of pre-cataract surgery instructions among patients and next of kin.
Background
Pre-surgery instructions were too wordy, leading to non-compliance, delayed surgeries, and frustration for patients and caregivers.
Methods
Designed and piloted a pictorial flipchart to simplify pre-surgery instructions.
Results
97% of patients found the flipchart helpful, reducing cancellations, phone calls, and misunderstandings.
Conclusion
Pictorial instructions enhanced patient understanding, reduced surgery delays, and improved staff efficiency.
Lessons Learnt
Visual aids simplify communication, reduce stress for staff, and improve compliance with instructions.
