Aims
Leverage technology to create a virtual wound ward, enhancing wound management, promoting knowledge gain, and improving patient outcomes.
Background
The pandemic halted cross-institutional clinical reinforcement, creating challenges for partners managing chronic wounds. Technology was leveraged to reinforce clinical care virtually.
Methods
Implemented portable wound scanners with AI integration, allowing remote tracking of wounds and pivoting face-to-face training to a hybrid learning model.
Results
Expanded outreach to 15 nursing homes, improving wound healing outcomes and reducing readmissions to acute hospitals. Remote monitoring enhanced accessibility and convenience.
Conclusion
The Virtual Wound Ward successfully transformed wound management, improving outcomes and efficiency. Future efforts focus on expanding reach and refining AI-driven wound tracking.
Lessons Learnt
AI-powered wound scanners improved wound management, efficiency, and clinical reinforcement. Secured funding ensured sustainability.
