About this Content
Aims
The aim is to utilize Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to enhance the Emergency Trolley Management System, improving efficiency, reducing manual workload, and ensuring patient safety by automating the tracking of emergency trolley items.
Background
Traditionally, the verification of emergency trolley consumables relied on manual checks, which were labor-intensive and prone to human error. The absence of a centralized data system made it difficult to monitor inventory effectively.
Methods
The project involved the development and implementation of an RPA system to automate the emergency trolley consumables checklist. This included setting up alert systems for expiring items, shortages, and functional checks, with collaboration between nursing staff and the Information Technology Office (ITO).
Results
The implementation resulted in zero audit gaps for expired items and shortages, 100% compliance in functional checking, significant time savings, and financial savings of $24,930 per year. Staff satisfaction improved with a 98% user satisfaction rate.
Conclusion
The project's success hinged on strong user engagement and a phased implementation approach. Regular feedback collection enabled targeted enhancements, while maintaining safety standards.
Lessons Learnt
The project's success hinged on strong user engagement and a phased implementation approach. Regular feedback collection enabled targeted enhancements, while maintaining safety standards.
