About this Content
Aims
To analyze service consumption and revenue for abnormalities by leveraging charts from SAP reports to identify potential revenue leakage in community hospitals, including Sengkang Community Hospital (SKCH) and Outram Community Hospital (OCH).
Background
Monitoring is vital for detecting anomalies in billing due to system failures or oversights, e.g., a 2020 interface failure caused revenue leakage in radiology services.
Methods
Data reconciliation using SAP-ISH and FICO reports; consolidating into interactive dashboards; anomaly detection; fishbone analysis to identify root causes of revenue leaks; use of PDSA Cycle for continuous improvement.
Results
An interactive dashboard was developed for visualizing service charges and consumption patterns. Detected and addressed revenue anomalies such as trends in radiology service charges.
Conclusion
Interactive dashboards facilitate continuous monitoring, revealing anomalies in service consumption and charges that can guide process improvement.
Lessons Learnt
Visualization tools are effective detective measures, but timely detection remains challenging. Ensuring system integration and training minimizes revenue leaks.
