UTIs in elderly residents caused high hospitalizations and required intervention to improve care standards.
Methods
Introduced diaper and IDC care bundles; implemented staff training and competency tests; used Fishbone analysis for root cause identification.
Results
Achieved UTI reduction from an average of 12 cases to 5 cases/month; 90% staff trained and competent in care protocols.
Conclusion
Project exceeded goals, reducing UTI incidence and improving overall staff competency and care quality.
Lessons Learnt
Effective staff training and visual guidelines improve compliance and reduce adverse outcomes.
