About this Content
Aims
Develop a 'Smart Ward' prototype to enhance patient care, streamline hospital workflows, and drive digital transformation in healthcare delivery.
Background
Singapore’s aging population and increasing care complexity demand innovative healthcare solutions. TTSH launched the Smart Ward initiative to optimize acute ward operations through technology and process redesign.
Methods
The Smart Ward utilized a logic model for evaluation, testing over 35 innovations, integrating patient feedback, and leveraging digitalization to improve patient care and staff efficiency.
Results
40% of tested innovations successfully scaled beyond the Smart Ward. 25% are in the pipeline for expansion, and 20% required modifications for broader adoption.
Conclusion
The Smart Ward initiative has transformed healthcare delivery at TTSH. Future expansions aim to scale the successful innovations beyond TTSH to other institutions.
Lessons Learnt
Effective healthcare innovation requires strong stakeholder engagement, iterative learning, and flexibility to adapt processes based on real-world feedback.
