Aims
Use AI to improve porter service efficiency by auto-matching tasks to porters based on real-time conditions, reducing wait times and improving productivity.
Background
Porters handle both patient and non-patient tasks, such as transporting patients, lab specimens, and medical equipment. Manual task assignment by controllers often leads to inconsistencies and inefficiencies.
Methods
Developed an AI-enabled e-portering system using a machine learning Random Forest classification model to predict and auto-assign portering tasks.
Results
AI-driven task assignment optimized resource use, categorized tasks, and improved efficiency. Controllers were reskilled to focus on higher-order tasks like utilization reporting.
Conclusion
AI-driven porter task assignments have improved service efficiency and patient experience. Future developments will focus on refining AI models for more accurate predictions.
Lessons Learnt
AI implementation improves workflow optimization, reduces human bias, and enhances hospital logistics management.
