Aims
To replace face-to-face assessment with a serious game for blood transfusion competency assessment.
Background
Nurses in SGH are reassessed every 2 years for competency on blood transfusion, requiring time-consuming face-to-face assessments.
Methods
Developed an online simulation game for nurses to complete blood transfusion competency assessments via an e-learning platform.
Results
Achieved 80% reduction in face-to-face assessments; saved 1100 manpower hours annually; 2200 nurses completed assessments successfully.
Conclusion
Successfully implemented an innovative, scalable solution for competency assessments, saving resources and improving learning.
Lessons Learnt
Game-based competency assessment improved learning outcomes, but platform compatibility issues need to be addressed.
Additional Information
Recognized as a manpower-saving tool enhancing competency evaluation efficiency.
