About this Content
Aims
To improve tracheostomy care knowledge and inter-professional learning through urgency creation and an e-learning program.
Background
Tracheostomy trainings were previously inconsistent across departments, leading to confusion and compromised patient safety. A workgroup unified training to address these issues.
Methods
Conducted pre-course surveys and developed a 6-module e-learning program for 240 participants, combining video-based learning and post-module MCQs. Results were evaluated via Anova tests and Likert scale surveys.
Results
Knowledge scores improved from 68.16% (baseline) to 79.08%. Positive feedback (4.2/5) included usefulness, inter-professional promotion, and video effectiveness.
Conclusion
The program effectively improved tracheostomy care knowledge, promoting inter-professional learning with standardized training.
Lessons Learnt
Competency assessments could be improved via simulated settings. Sustained interaction and knowledge-sharing platforms like Facebook@work were suggested.
Additional Information
Program design addressed variability in knowledge while creating urgency for learning.
