To enhance the process for draining effluent fluid from Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machines, improving infection control and nurse safety.
Background
Manual effluent drainage processes were inefficient and posed risks of infection due to aerosolization and spills.
Methods
Developed customized dialysis covers and trolleys; provided training to staff.
Results
Achieved 60% reduction in time spent changing effluent bags; saved 240 minutes per day for NHCS staff.
Conclusion
Improved workflows for effluent fluid drainage reduce staff workload and enhance patient safety.
Lessons Learnt
Customized solutions improve productivity, safety, and infection control in ICU settings.
