Aims
Understand the changes, benefits, and barriers of telepractice adoption by speech therapists (STs) in Singapore during COVID-19.
Background
COVID-19 restrictions accelerated telepractice adoption in allied health, but barriers limited its long-term uptake.
Methods
Conducted a cross-sectional survey with 114 STs, analyzing data via descriptive statistics and thematic analysis.
Results
68% of STs adopted telepractice; benefits: access, continuity, client participation; barriers: technology, resources, perception.
Conclusion
Telepractice ensures care continuity but requires training, evidence sharing, and validation for wider adoption.
Lessons Learnt
Telepractice works for specific cases but lacks perceived effectiveness for young children and swallowing patients.
