Aims
To evaluate BioFire® Pneumonia Panel for its effectiveness in identifying pathogens in respiratory infections.
Background
Respiratory infections require timely diagnostics for better management.
Methods
Compared results from BioFire® multiplex PCR and traditional culture methods.
Results
BioFire® detected 77 pathogens vs. 24 by culture methods; 75% concordance with routine tests.
Conclusion
BioFire® Pneumonia Panel enhances diagnosis speed and pathogen detection accuracy for respiratory infections.
Lessons Learnt
Syndromic panels can improve speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency but require clinical validation.
