Background
SGH’s Renal Dialysis Centre faced delays, inefficiencies, and ergonomics issues affecting workflow and patient care.
Methods
Value Stream Mapping, ground observation, and ergonomics studies were used to identify problem areas.
Results
Improved patient transportation scheduling; eliminated 20 minutes of porter waiting time, saved 2,600 hours annually, and reduced curtain change times by 52.5 minutes.
Conclusion
Streamlining operations reduced delays, improved efficiency, and saved $150,000 annually in manpower costs.
Lessons Learnt
Optimizing workflow through VSM can yield significant time savings, improve ergonomics, and boost staff morale.
