Aims
Increase compliance to Influenza and Pneumococcal vaccinations to more than 60% among post-PCI patients within 6 months. Establish vaccination safety for post-PCI patients.
Background
Uptake of vaccinations among post-PCI patients remained low (35%) despite MOH recommendations for cardiovascular patients.
Methods
Offered vaccinations during Cardiac Rehab Phase 1. Cardiac Rehab Nurses assessed, educated, and provided vaccinations.
Results
Vaccination compliance increased from 35% to over 60%. Effective patient education and systematic workflows improved uptake.
Conclusion
Vaccination rates improved through systematic patient education and effective workflows.
Lessons Learnt
Nursing education and advocacy significantly improve vaccination rates during hospitalization. Implement workflows to sustain the program.
