Aims
Improve bill collection rates using SMS reminders for outstanding SOC bills.
Background
Manually contacting patients about outstanding bills was resource-intensive and could not cover the high case volume.
Methods
Implemented SMS reminders sent to patients 7 days after their SOC visit through the IHIS SMS gateway.
Results
Improved bill collection rates significantly (e.g., KKH from 9% to 17% post-SMS); scaled to multiple institutions.
Conclusion
SMS reminders are cost-effective for managing outstanding bills, supporting affordability in healthcare.
Lessons Learnt
Automation improves outreach efficiency and increases financial collections.
