About this Content
Aims
To create a faster, standardized, and more cost-effective solution for removable partial denture (RPD) fabrication.
Background
Traditional RPD fabrication is manual, time-consuming, and dependent on skilled technicians, leading to inefficiencies and limited scalability. An aging population and increasing demand for RPDs necessitate improvements.
Methods
The SmartRPD Digital Workflow includes digital scanning, auto-RPD design generation, 3D printing for denture fabrication, cloud-based case storage & retrieval, RPD design toolkit, graphical model result inspection, and 3D component polyline editing functionality.
Results
Patient visits were reduced from 5 to 3, treatment duration shortened from 3 months to 1 month, clinician time decreased from 4 hours to 2 hours per case, and fabrication time improved to produce up to 30 RPD frameworks in 3 hours versus 1 framework in 11 hours.
Conclusion
The standardized workflows reduce errors, optimize chairside time, and are built for broad adoption with continuous software updates and training.
Lessons Learnt
The digital workflow reduces dependence on skilled technicians and empowers clinicians with digital tools.
