Background
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is a leading cause of vision loss; improved screening is crucial for prevention.
Methods
Centralized DR image grading, developed a national IT platform, and implemented optometrist training.
Results
Increased patient attendance; DR sensitivity/specificity over 97%; 1.7M patient days saved through improved reporting and timely referrals.
Conclusion
SiDRP provides scalable, efficient eye care; integrates technology and workforce transformation to enhance outcomes.
Lessons Learnt
Effective communication and a flexible system to adapt to evolving eye care needs are critical for success.
