About this Content
Aims
Implement and evaluate the clinical and cost-effectiveness of AI in colonoscopy. First implementation in the Asia Pacific region.
Background
Colorectal cancer is the most common cancer in Singapore; AI aims to improve polyp detection rates and reduce missed adenomas.
Methods
Used GI Genius AI technology, feedback collection, endoscopist training, and regular performance evaluations.
Results
Increased polyp detection rate by 30.4%; revenue increased by SGD 40,000 annually post-subscription costs; endoscopist satisfaction improved significantly (p=0.01).
Conclusion
Routine use of AI in colonoscopy demonstrates feasibility, financial sustainability, and enhanced patient outcomes.
Lessons Learnt
AI enhances clinical outcomes and is cost-effective; integration into endoscopy improved detection rates and practitioner confidence.
