Background
Footwear supply and delivery delays caused physiotherapist idle time of up to 5 hours.
Methods
Increased footwear samples, trained PTs on fitting, allowed PTs to self-collect samples.
Results
Waiting time reduced from 3–4 hours to 30–60 minutes; PT idle time saved by 20–35 minutes per referral.
Conclusion
Improved patient discharge and mobility readiness by streamlining footwear assessment workflows.
Lessons Learnt
Cross-discipline training improves workflow efficiency; bottlenecks can be mitigated by sharing responsibilities.
