About this Content
Aims
To implement tele-practice services for patients.
Background
The Speech Therapy (ST) department introduced telepractice for outpatients to receive therapy beyond the clinic. This process re-design segregated essential vs non-essential cases and established designated telepractice rooms. However, barriers like technical issues and usability concerns persisted.
Methods
Conducted a 21-question telehealth usability survey with 11 patients, gathering feedback on accessibility, experience, and technical challenges.
Results
80% of patients supported telepractice, citing similar experiences to face-to-face sessions. 91% expressed willingness to use telepractice despite setup concerns. Technical issues and elderly patient adaptability were challenges.
Conclusion
Telepractice is well-received, offering an alternate platform for therapy and clinician-patient communication. Future plans include app development for improved usability.
Lessons Learnt
Caregiver support and system setup guidance are critical for elderly patients. Addressing telepractice barriers ensures wider adoption and success.
Additional Information
Shared telepractice experience across departments. Actively pursuing funding for telepractice system enhancements.
