About this Content
Aims
Develop a streamlined Workshop Management System (WMS) to improve efficiency in the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) workshop.
Background
Increasing workloads in the P&O center led to inefficiencies in storage, tracking, and job turnaround.
Methods
Designed and implemented a WMS using Microsoft Access; applied Kaizen 6S Lean methodology to optimize workflows and storage.
Results
Reduced average turnaround time for prostheses from 5 to 2 days; increased workshop storage space by 14.2%; improved staff satisfaction.
Conclusion
The WMS improved workshop efficiency, reduced errors, and optimized storage and resource management.
Lessons Learnt
Change management and continuous training are essential for digital system adoption and operational improvements.
