Aims
To examine prevalence and correlates of suicide planning and attempt among individuals with suicidal ideation.
Background
Individuals with suicidal ideation are at a high risk of psychiatric morbidity and suicide attempts.
Methods
Nationwide cross-sectional survey with multivariable logistic regressions on 411 individuals with suicidal ideation.
Results
Suicide planning was found in 17.7% and attempts in 10.6% of individuals with suicidal ideation.
Conclusion
Prior suicide planning and ACEs are key predictors of suicide attempts; timely interventions are critical.
Lessons Learnt
Identifying high-risk individuals and addressing ACEs can help prevent future suicide attempts.
