Aims
Develop a mentorship program for smooth transition into nursing practice for participants.
Background
Nursing students often struggle with initial transitions into training and practice due to limited prior exposure to the profession.
Methods
Used the “Pulse Check” system for weekly feedback and reflection; integrated mentorship with clinical internships lasting 2-3 weeks.
Results
26 participants received mentorship; 12 extended their internships; 24 pursued nursing careers.
Conclusion
Mentorship significantly aids in developing future healthcare professionals, fostering confidence and skills.
Lessons Learnt
Mentorship benefits both participants and mentors but requires effort to change initial reluctance among mentors.
Additional Information
Scalable to other training contexts; supports transitions into the nursing workforce.
