About this Content
Aims
The project aims to provide caregivers with warm breakfasts to support them during times of need, especially when they are reluctant to leave their loved ones' side.
Background
As part of holistic palliative care for patients with advanced diseases, caregivers often compromise their own self-care to be present with their loved ones. This initiative is part of Dover Park Hospice's commitment to caring for patients' families.
Methods
Staff volunteers from various departments are rostered to procure and deliver breakfasts to caregivers before starting their work. The Nursing Team provides information on the number of breakfasts needed.
Results
Caregivers are grateful for the breakfasts, which provide sustenance and warmth. The organization has received encouraging feedback and plans to continue the project internally.
Conclusion
The project successfully supports caregivers and demonstrates the organization's commitment to volunteerism and holistic care.
Lessons Learnt
The initiative highlights the importance of volunteerism within the organization and the positive impact on staff volunteers' sense of meaning in their roles.
