About this Content
Aims
The aim of Project Lim Kopi is to create a traditional kopitiam-like atmosphere for inpatients and day care service users, providing them with a sense of normalcy and engaging them in a way that encourages them to sit up while enjoying the experience.
Background
Project Lim Kopi was initiated by the Social Work and Psychosocial department and later coordinated by the Volunteer Programme Department in collaboration with the Palliative Rehabilitation Unit. It aims to create a multi-sensory, welcoming environment similar to a traditional kopitiam.
Methods
The project involves creating a multi-sensory design with elements of sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell. It runs every Friday morning with a team of staff and volunteers working together to provide a positive experience for the patients.
Results
The initiative has led to inpatients being more willing to sit up for 30 minutes or more, staff and volunteers finding their roles meaningful, and colleagues gaining more insight into the activities offered to patients. Feedback from patients has been encouraging.
Conclusion
The organization plans to continue with the project internally due to the positive feedback and outcomes observed.
Lessons Learnt
The project highlights the importance of creating a multi-sensory, welcoming environment and the positive impact it can have on patient engagement and staff satisfaction.
