About this Content
Aims
The MMM app enables youths to track their well-being, providing visibility on clients' progress and emotional state. This also aims to increase youth's self help abilities and connects clients and caseworkers.
Background
This app is created for Live On!, a sucide intervention programme by TOUCH Counselling & Psychological Services (TCPS) which helps youths manage and reduce suicide risk. In addition to conducting individual counselling and family sessions, programme caseworkers use MMM as a digital enabler to keep clients safe, engaged and connected to support.
Methods
The app allows youths to log in their mood, sleep patterns and also allows them to write a journal. Emergency contacts and the in-app safety plan are included which is fundamental to all suicide-related interventions. Case workers can conduct regular check-ins on clients via the app, anytime and anywhere, boosting efficiency of the intervention.
Results
Caseworkers reported more efficient monitoring of their client's well-being through customised dashboards. Auto-detection of trigger words in journa entries also prompted them to follow-up with client promptly. The app gamified activities have encouraged clients' consistent usage of coping strategies and help resources. The effective integration of technology into suicide intervention work simplifies the process for caseworkers in monitoring multiple clients virtually.
Conclusion
With this app in place, clients' and caseworkers are able to connect, boosting efficiency of the support they require and at the same time, alleviates the substantial demands placed upon caseworkers by automating and simplifying processes for them to track multiple clients' well-being.
Lessons Learnt
Making the right use of technology allows caseworkers to track their client's well-being, improving clients' timely access to support.
