Aims
To support caregivers and seniors by empowering caregiving and innovating care, promoting senior independence, and alleviating caregiver stress.
Background
Caregivers, often family members or neighbors, are essential to communities but face challenges like burnout due to juggling multiple responsibilities without adequate support.
Methods
The initiative includes services like Night Respite and Community Chaperone to provide custodial care and mobility support, respectively, allowing caregivers to rest and manage other commitments.
Results
Between Oct 2021 and Dec 2024, 14 seniors were supported with 469 attendances. Outcomes include improved sleep quality for seniors, reduced behavioral symptoms, caregiver satisfaction, and improved caregiver well-being.
Conclusion
The initiative successfully supports caregivers and seniors, promoting aging-in-place with dignity and strengthening community care networks.
Lessons Learnt
The initiative highlights the importance of supporting caregivers to enhance their well-being and the quality of care they provide.
