Reduce human errors and delays in activating senior doctors and ICU outreach nurses for RED zone patients.
Background
Compliance to the escalation matrix for deteriorating patients was as low as 10%, risking delays.
Methods
Implemented automated NEWS score-based alerts sent to smartphones for patients in RED zone criteria.
Results
NEWS alerts: 365 cases from 201 patients; ICU admissions avoided for 17 patients, improving care.
Conclusion
Digitalized alerts enhanced patient safety and reduced ICU admissions through early intervention.
Lessons Learnt
Digital alerts improved compliance, reduced escalation delays, and facilitated timely interventions.
