Aims
To provide direct contact between pharmacy leaders and ground staff, openly discuss issues, engage stakeholders, and foster ownership of staff concerns.
Background
Traditional top-down communication resulted in mismatches. The project introduced ground-up communication to promote collaboration and inclusiveness.
Methods
Twice yearly HOD & Safety walkabouts, issues tabulated and analyzed, satisfaction surveys conducted, and three walkabout cycles conducted between July 2021 - Dec 2022.
Results
Issues raised increased by 52% (61 to 95), areas of walkabout increased by 55% (9 to 14), 35% of issues resolved immediately, overall resolution rate 84%, 100% satisfaction rate.
Conclusion
Ground-up communication ensures open channels with staff involvement, improving engagement and issue resolution.
Lessons Learnt
Staff feel engaged when voices are heard, addressing concerns fosters ownership, and open communication channels lead to better engagement.
