Aims
Revolutionizing outpatient care with an innovative vending machine solution, offering both Pharmacy-Only Medications (PMEDs) and over-the-counter remedies (GSL) to conveniently address minor ailments.
Background
Patients previously faced challenges in obtaining PMEDs and GSL items after the medical center's relocation. The vending machine solution was introduced to improve accessibility.
Methods
Implemented an HSA-approved vending machine that allows patients to browse and obtain PMEDs via teleconsultation with a pharmacist. The system enables safe and controlled dispensing.
Results
The vending machine improved accessibility, reduced waiting times, and lessened workload for healthcare professionals. Survey results from Jan-Oct 2023 showed high patient satisfaction.
Conclusion
PharmaSIS has successfully improved medication accessibility. Future plans include integrating with Healthier SG and expanding its services to support smoking cessation efforts.
Lessons Learnt
Automation and digital solutions enhance convenience and efficiency in medication access.
