Aims
To right-site non-clinical tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce clinical staff workload during COVID-19.
Background
Clinical staff were overburdened by non-clinical tasks during COVID-19, leading to burnout and inefficiencies.
Methods
Redefined job roles with Patient Support Services (PSS) to handle non-clinical duties such as admissions, discharges, and inventory management, saving manhours and costs.
Results
Saved $40,632.84 monthly and reduced workload by 63%-75%, improving work-life balance and morale among staff; PSS implementation uplifted job value through multi-skilling.
Conclusion
The PSS model provides a sustainable framework for task delegation and efficiency improvements, benefiting both clinical staff and patients.
Lessons Learnt
Right-siting tasks enhances efficiency, job satisfaction, and organizational productivity. Creating clear roles and responsibilities is essential for success.
