To reduce unused surgical instruments ordered daily by ASC by 50% in one year.
Background
Excessive unused surgical instruments required 693 man-hours/year for checking and restocking, compromising integrity of sterile packages.
Methods
Used PDSA cycles, centralized storage, and improved ordering templates.
Results
Unused instruments reduced to 25%, saving $9,700 and 693 man-hours/year.
Conclusion
Optimized inventory management and reduced redundant tasks and costs.
Lessons Learnt
Clear duty segregation and systematic methods improve efficiency and staff morale.
