About this Content
Aims
To reduce the average ROWA task idle time by 50% to 4.84 minutes per task and task picking time by 20% to 1.74 minutes per task.
Background
Prolonged task idle time and long picking times were observed with the BD ROWA system between Jan-May 2022.
Methods
Large-scale optimization of inventory and pack sizes to minimize picking and labeling time. Phased implementation through 2022.
Results
Achieved idle time target of 4.84 minutes and picking time target of 1.74 minutes per task by Dec 2022.
Conclusion
High effectiveness of optimization measures shared with other hospitals.
Lessons Learnt
Optimization reduced manpower requirements by one staff and demonstrated transferrable success.
