About this Content
Aims
To evaluate the impact of an Acute Surgical Care Model (ASCM) using the Optimal Care Index (OCI), a novel index incorporating patient’s function, cost, and experience into traditional clinical models.
Background
Acute cholecystitis is a common surgical emergency where early laparoscopic cholecystectomy improves outcomes but faces logistical challenges.
Methods
Compared outcomes before and after ASCM implementation.
Results
Improved OCI, reduced complications, and better patient satisfaction. OCI scores rose from 0.0046 to 0.0076.
Conclusion
ASCM with OCI delivers better surgical and holistic outcomes, paving the way for similar healthcare models.
Lessons Learnt
Structured care models enhance clinical outcomes, cost efficiency, and patient satisfaction.
