Background
Emergency Department overcrowding and prolonged wait times affected patient experience and outcomes.
Methods
Monthly reviews, streamlined pathways, and collaboration with UK AEC Accelerator Programme.
Results
Reduced length of stay by 28.6 hours per patient, saved $465 per patient, and maintained a low readmission rate (6.3%).
Conclusion
AEC services offer safe, cost-effective alternatives to inpatient stays, improving patient outcomes and system efficiency.
Lessons Learnt
Multidisciplinary coordination and continuous feedback sustain high-quality care and improve efficiency.
