Aims
Integrate the therapeutic benefits of nature and mindfulness for early-stage and young-onset dementia patients.
Background
Traditional dementia care models lack meaningful engagement for younger, well-traveled, and cognitively active dementia patients.
Methods
Conducted 8 nature therapy sessions, trained staff as facilitators, and piloted intergenerational bonding with preschoolers.
Results
Well-being (WIB) scores increased from 2.17 to 2.97 during therapy sessions; participants reported greater engagement and positive behavior.
Conclusion
Nature-based therapies enhance engagement and well-being for persons with dementia.
Lessons Learnt
Nature and mindfulness positively impacted cognitive, social, and emotional well-being, benefiting both patients and staff.
