Aims
To redesign job roles and processes in the Health Information Management Services (HIMS) department for efficiency and sustainability.
Background
Transition to Electronic Medical Records necessitated a redefinition of HIMS roles to prevent staff displacement and inefficiencies.
Methods
Adopted a 6-step redesign methodology to reassign staff roles and integrate Scanned Medical Records (SMR) systems.
Results
Increased efficiency with no staff displacement, centralized roles, and operational improvements; saved 75 outsourced manpower roles.
Conclusion
Workforce transformation and upskilling are critical for adapting to digital transitions in healthcare management.
Lessons Learnt
Effective redesign requires stakeholder collaboration, structured upskilling, and clear impact evaluation.
