Aims

To reduce the time for IV cannulation training while maintaining trainee confidence and success rates.

Background

COVID-19 prompted a shift from traditional in-person training to e-learning, requiring innovative solutions for skill-based training.

Methods

Developed IV NIMBLE game with 3D-printed arms and pressure sensor gloves to simulate patient response and provide real-time feedback.

Results

Reduced training time from 30 to 18 minutes per session, saving 6,480 minutes annually. Trainee confidence and success rates matched traditional methods.

Conclusion

IV NIMBLE integrates simulation and gaming for effective and efficient nursing training.

Lessons Learnt

Gamified and simulated training approaches effectively enhance learning efficiency and outcomes.
