Aims
Provide engaging activities during inpatient stays and achieve 50% patient satisfaction with the activities.
Background
Patients in NTFGH (average 6-day stay) and JCH (average 32-day stay) reported boredom and dissatisfaction during hospital stays.
Methods
Designed activity packs, polled patients for preferences, introduced QR codes for access to Wi-Fi, movies, and mobile games.
Results
Achieved 75% patient satisfaction at NTFGH and 100% at JCH; activity take-up rates ranged from 55% to 63%.
Conclusion
Patient activities enhanced overall experience, demonstrating the importance of addressing non-clinical needs during recovery.
Lessons Learnt
Engaging patients with diverse activities improves well-being and satisfaction; teamwork and patient input are key.
