About this Content
Aims
To identify important intervention elements and behavior change techniques (BCTs) for optimizing prescribing for older adults with multimorbidity.
Background
Polypharmacy among older adults increases risks of adverse outcomes such as falls and medication non-adherence.
Methods
Conducted a modified Delphi study involving 20 geriatricians to assess statements about prescribing optimization.
Results
Identified 32 intervention elements with high importance and 14 BCTs tailored for the local context.
Conclusion
Optimizing prescribing requires locally relevant interventions co-created with stakeholders to address real-world challenges.
Lessons Learnt
Engaging stakeholders ensures relevance and feasibility of interventions, while highlighting implementation challenges.
