About this Content
Aims
Implement Tele-Presence Robots in inpatient wards to reduce nursing time by 20% and enhance care delivery.
Background
WHO predicts a global shortage of 18 million health workers by 2030. AI-powered robotic solutions, such as PARO, have been introduced in healthcare for remote monitoring and assistance.
Methods
Used the Plan-Do-Study-Act (PDSA) methodology. Conducted site visits to explore AI-powered solutions, leading to the selection of the Tele-Presence Robot for patient interaction.
Results
Nursing time for patient orientation reduced by 60%, from 15 minutes per patient to 6 minutes. 81% of staff found the robot useful for ward orientation, and 63.8% supported its use for scheduled announcements.
Conclusion
The Tele-Presence Robot successfully complemented nursing care, reducing workload and improving efficiency. Future enhancements will focus on expanded use and AI-driven improvements.
Lessons Learnt
AI-powered robots can improve efficiency and staff satisfaction. Proper training and implementation planning are key to success.
