Aims
Increase the overall hand hygiene compliance rate from 70.75% to 85% in Ward B6 (Subsidised).
Background
Hand hygiene compliance was below 80%; Ward B6 had the lowest compliance rate at 70.75%, with poor hand rub visibility and awareness.
Methods
Conducted root cause analysis, improved hand rub accessibility (moved to drip pole), and educated staff on 5 Moments of Hand Hygiene.
Results
Compliance increased from 70.75% to 85%; staff feedback highlighted better accessibility of hand rub and reduced delays.
Conclusion
Improved hand hygiene practices significantly reduced risks of hospital-acquired infections in Ward B6.
Lessons Learnt
Continuous education and improved hand rub access sustain hand hygiene compliance, reducing infection risks.
