About this Content
Aims
Streamline lung function test scheduling, preparation, and follow-up using AI-powered chatbots to enhance efficiency, reduce patient anxiety, and improve care coordination.
Background
Lung function tests are crucial for diagnosing respiratory conditions like COPD and asthma. Traditional scheduling and follow-up processes are complex, causing delays and patient distress. AI can simplify and improve these processes.
Methods
A chatbot was developed using AWS services, including AWS Lambda, Amazon Lex, and Amazon DynamoDB. The system underwent iterative prototyping and user feedback to ensure usability.
Results
The AI chatbot automates test reminders, provides real-time patient support, reduces no-show rates, and streamlines result communication. It improves patient engagement and administrative efficiency.
Conclusion
Next steps include securing funding for further testing and refining the chatbot for wider implementation. A subscription-based model or in-house deployment are potential sustainability strategies.
Lessons Learnt
AI-driven automation significantly enhances patient experience and workflow efficiency. Standardizing patient education materials across multiple languages ensures broader accessibility.
