Aims
Increase the proportion of frontline staff assessing psychological distress and improve their skills from <70% to 90%.
Background
Migrant workers faced heightened psychological distress due to social determinants exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods
Implementation of a mental health assessment workflow and multilingual questionnaires. Staff training sessions.
Results
Routine mental health assessment and staff familiarity improved to 84% and 82%, respectively. Positive patient feedback and no psychological crises.
Conclusion
Improved mental health assessment and workflow implementation positively impacted staff and patients. Plans for sustainability established.
Lessons Learnt
Sustainable and low-cost interventions can effectively address psychological health gaps among vulnerable populations.
