To improve the first visit attendance percentage (FVAP) for patients referred from Medical Oncology Clinic to Palliative Medicine Clinic from 65% to 100% within six months.
Background
Low attendance for palliative care consultations led to suboptimal management of oncology patients.
Methods
Education materials, standardized scripts, and improved follow-up calls
Results
FVAP improved from 68% to 76%, resulting in fewer missed slots and manhour savings of $11,512.80 annually.
Conclusion
Improved workflows and patient engagement strategies enhance attendance and clinic efficiency.
Lessons Learnt
Systematic pre-clinic education enhances patient understanding and attendance rates.
