Aims
To improve partial compliance of home exercises for patients attending Physiotherapy in TTSH Centre for Geriatric Medicine from a baseline of 32.5% to 70% in 6 months.
Background
Low exercise compliance among CGRM patients, with only 32.5% being more than 50% compliant. Home exercises are the main mode of intervention, and efficacy relies on patient compliance.
Methods
Interventions include exercise planners with video narration, compliance toolkits, group sessions, and educational videos. Strategies are tailored to patient needs and involve multi-disciplinary teams.
Results
Exercise compliance improved, with cost savings of $1545.60 per month and $18547.20 annually. Compliance percentages varied over time, indicating some success.
Conclusion
Improving exercise compliance is achievable with tailored interventions and multi-disciplinary efforts. Continued focus on education and tool familiarity is essential.
