About this Content
Aims
Improve the accuracy and consistency of pricing for customised prostheses and orthoses.
Background
Pricing inconsistencies arose from the lack of standardized methodology for estimating labor, materials, and fabrication costs.
Methods
Developed the Prosthetics & Orthotics Billing Guidelines (P&OBG) using the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) framework; created cost-tracking systems and grouped procedures into pricing categories.
Results
Accuracy in pricing improved by 69.5% post-intervention; 97.5% of staff reported providing accurate pricing information during consultations.
Conclusion
Implementing P&OBG ensures fair, accurate, and consistent billing, scalable to other departments requiring pricing standardization.
Lessons Learnt
Standardization simplifies complex processes, increases transparency, and improves patient confidence in financial counseling.
