Aims
To improve the first case on-time start rates on weekdays in TTSH Radiology Angio Suite from 10% to 80% in 6 months.
Background
Delays in starting first procedures led to manpower wastage, staff stress, overtime costs, and unsafe working environments for patients and staff.
Methods
Root causes identified using Fishbone diagrams, multi-voting, and Pareto charts. PDSA cycles were implemented to resolve issues such as checklists, case streamlining, and pre-procedure processes.
Results
First case on-time start rates increased from 10% to 75% within 6 months. Sustained results as of April 2019. Overtime costs reduced, and workflow efficiency improved.
Conclusion
Improved first case on-time start rates optimized resource usage, reduced delays, and enhanced safety. Sustained performance demonstrated system scalability.
Lessons Learnt
Inter-departmental collaboration and root cause analysis were critical to success. Micro-process understanding ensured effective intervention.

Hourly cost savings: $648/day, $168,480/year. Enhanced patient satisfaction and staff morale.
