Aims
To improve Ward C10’s hand hygiene compliance rate from 68% to 83% by September 2018.
Background
Poor hand hygiene practices caused an increased risk of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
Methods
Conducted roll-call trainings, developed pictorial guides, and implemented peer reminders.
Results
Compliance rate increased from 68% to 85%; reduced incidences of HAIs in Ward C10.
Conclusion
Improved compliance with hand hygiene standards resulted in a safer patient care environment.
Lessons Learnt
Visual and regular peer reminders effectively sustain high compliance rates.
