Aims
To improve overall patient experience, reduce COVID-19 transmission risks, and align with MOH's telemedicine initiatives.
Background
In response to COVID-19, there was a need to minimize in-person visits and enhance patient convenience through telemedicine.
Methods
Pilot and subsequent phased expansion of video consultations for low-risk surgical cases, including stakeholder engagement and workflow redesign.
Results
Implemented teleconsultations for PEC, reducing additional hospital visits; achieved a 2.3-fold increase in patient enrollment across phases with zero surgery cancellations.
Conclusion
PEC video consultations improved patient convenience, minimized COVID-19 risks, and enhanced satisfaction.
Lessons Learnt
Effective stakeholder engagement and iterative process improvements are crucial for successful telemedicine implementation.
